Our Family's History

My photo
Our family started on November 1, 2003 when Doug and Lauri got married. We added to our family on August 7, 2005 with the arrival of Ronnie. We live in Shakopee, MN and enjoy going to the gym, the movies, karate, and Papa's (and Nana's) cabin in McGregor on weeekends.

Ronnie's Preschool Graduation

Ronnie's daycare (or "school" as he calls it) held a graduation ceremony for the High Fives kids who were moving from preschool to kindergarten in the fall.  The ceremony was held at Normandale Community College, and included all the pomp and circumstance.....  Each of the kids had to walk up to the microphone and say "When I grow up, I want to be...." , and then the teachers gave them a special award/title.  Ronnie's response was "a professional dancer"...  but the ladies from school made such a big deal out of it in practice, that he wouldn't say it when he got up there.  They gave him the title of "America's next Justin Bieber".  He thought that was pretty cool.  Some of the other kids wanted to be moms, dads, school bus driver, storm chaser, babysitter....  it was pretty cute.

Fishing Opener at Papa & Nana's Cabin

Papa came to Minnesota to spend Fishing Opener at the cabin....  Doug, Papa and Ronnie headed up north on Friday night and spent all day Saturday getting the cabin ready for summer by putting in the docks, getting the boat in the water, and cleaning up the beach and yard.  Lauri drove up on Saturday afternoon with Pirate Ship Ann....  We went to Zorbaz for dinner.  The next morning, Ronnie and Lauri left early to get back to the Cities for Ronnie's hip hop dance recital rehearsal.  Papa and Doug stayed up at the cabin to fish on Sunday and Monday....  No photos of fish.....

What a cutie!  Ronnie riding in the boat to Zorbaz.

Mother's Day 2011

What a GREAT Mother's Day.  I woke up to a little boy telling me "Happy Mother's Day Mama - I love you"....  It only got better from there.  I had presents (a SodaStream and a popcorn maker), cards, flowers, and breakfast in bed.  We went to church, I taught Sunday school, then we met Beth and Lindsay at the house for a mimosa before heading to brunch.   The rest of the day was relatively LAZY...  we watched Wipe Out (and laughed HARD), had dinner, then watched a movie and had popcorn for Family Movie Night.  I can't imagine a better day!!!  I love my boys!!!

Doug and Ronnie....  my favorite boys!!!

Time to Go to Boise!!!!

Lauri had to head to Boise to recruit for a Summer Leadership Program for the Boise office of Eide Bailly.  The family decided to extend the trip, and Ronnie and Doug joined her.  We were there over Easter, and were able to spend time with Nana, Papa, Uncle Mike, Cissy, Keaton, Amy, Darby, Nick, Natalie, Gavin, Jill, Will and Elle.  Kiki surprised us with a quick visit as well.  We had a GREAT time!  It was hard to leave.

Ronnie making his bed before we left - he had to say "good bye" to each of his pets and give them a kiss.

Posing with his pets...  notice that they are each cuddling with or have their around around another pet. What a love!!!

Ronnie and Keaton with the Easter Bunny - at Uncle Mike's work...

Boise State!!!!  Having fun at Uncle Mike and Cissy's house!

Eating at Kyoto's...  or, as Keaton calls it "the place that flips shrimp in your mouth"...  Ronnie used his chopsticks (they were held together at the end with a rubber band - but at least he tried it!)

Ronnie and Keaton coloring Easter eggs.

 Making funny faces!!!!

A GREAT Easter party at the Wongs....   Nothin' but kids, an Easter Egg hunt, and fun!!!

Ronnie showing off his sweet dance moves at Nana and Papa's house...  he was dancing to Michael Jackson.

Testing for the Brown Belt!!!

We were surprised when Ronnie's karate instructor showed them a new routine, and it was TOUGH!  He learned new moves, jump kicks, and several new combinations to make a much longer routine than he had done before.  When testing day came, he was ready!

Playing a game with Daddy before the testing started...

 Ready to test!!!

Coloring Easter Eggs at Home

Ronnie and Lauri took some time one night to color Easter eggs.  Ronnie liked coloring them every color, except for pink!

The First Tooth .... Wiggly!!!

In March, Ronnie complained that his mouth hurt...  when we looked at it, his bottom, middle tooth was hanging on by a thread!  It took a couple of days (mainly because he didn't want to eat because he was afraid it would fall out)....  but it eventually came out.  The Tooth Fairy stopped by that night and gave him a silver dollar and a glittery kiss on his forehead.

Ronnie's First Karate Tournament

Youngman's AMA hosted a karate tournament - the first one for many of the Karate Kubs.  They competed in a number of events, including a fast kick contest, sparring contest, and forms contest.  Ronnie did a great job, and earned a ribbon.  He had a lot of fun!  Papa was there to cheer him on.
