Our Family's History

My photo
Our family started on November 1, 2003 when Doug and Lauri got married. We added to our family on August 7, 2005 with the arrival of Ronnie. We live in Shakopee, MN and enjoy going to the gym, the movies, karate, and Papa's (and Nana's) cabin in McGregor on weeekends.

Ronnie & Lauri Visit Grandma Betty & Family in Florence, OR

After receiving word that Grandma Betty was not in good health, Lauri and Ronnie took at trip to Florence, OR to visit her, Aunt Chrissy and Uncle Leo.

Lauri and Grandma Betty. Grandma is living with Aunt Chrissy and Uncle Leo. It was so good to see her again and to visit a bit between naps. I love my Grandma Betty!
Ronnie and Lauri stayed at the Driftwood Shores - a hotel/condo complex right on the beach about 10 minutes from downtown Florence. Every room is on the beach side and has an awesome view. Ronnie really wanted to go play in the waves and make a sandcastle - so that's what we did!

Ronnie adding water to the moat of our sandcastle (made from coffee cups and sea shells).

Ronnie letting the waves come up to him on the beach.
One of the big waves crashed down on Ronnie and he toppled over in to the water. Once he was soaking wet, he agreed that it was time to go in and get warm and dry. Before leaving the beach, we had to get one picture of him with the sandcastle.

We also visited the Sea Lion Caves. After going down 200+ feet in an elevator - we stepped out in to the foulest smelling cave and were able to see about 100+ sea lions. It was fun to watch them jump in to the water when the tide came in. We could only handle the smell for about 10 minutes though before it was time to go back up to fresh air.

Ronnie playing on the sea lion sculpture.

Ronnie and Great Grandma Betty reading the book she made him for his 3rd birthday. Ronnie read it to her, sang the alphabet, and asked her questions like "how did you know I like to kick a ball?" It was so awesome to see them reading the special book together.

Ronnie and his Great Grandma Betty. Poppy told me that Grandma said Ronnie came in to her room and told her "Great Grandma Betty, I am glad I came to visit you" and grabbed her hand.

Sharing a glass of wine with Uncle Leo, Aunt Chrissy, Lauri, Uncle Peter and Aunt Mary. Ronnie took the picture. Notice he centered us perfectly!

Lauri, Aunt Kathy, Aunt Mary and Uncle Peter - Ronnie is hiding in the chair. We are at the restaurant that Chrissy and Leo own and operate. FABULOUS FOOD!

All that visiting wore Ronnie out!
